I love themed weddings....as I may have mentioned on more than a few occasions :-) Nadia and Ians wedding was of course a massive bonus in that it was a Disney themed wedding with all the trappings. It was a wicked little family affair over at the Keavil House Hotel, Dunfermline. Amazing day! We were made very welcome by the whole family. If Nadia and Ian were nervous they didn't show it. After the ceremony the kids got on with the job of running a half marathon and reminded us all that it was a party. Sometimes small weddings can be the biggest fun. Can't wait to share the big post with some more pics :-)
EDINBURGH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Earth Day is a great example of people from all walks of life coming together for the greater good. Now this all kicked off in the 60's believe it or not with some really progressive literature from the likes of Frank Herberts heavily allegorical 'Dune' trilogy and of course seminal non-fiction works like Rachel Carsons 'Silent Spring'. Two amazing books worth reading if you ever get the chance. These both raised concerns about environment, wildlife and public health. The energy of that and the student movements of the time led to the birth of a large move towards conservation-centred environmentalism. For the first time ever environmental concerns were national headlines and it didn't stop there. In 1970 20 million Americans protested right the way across their country simultaneously working together to raise the issue after bearing witness to the first real large scale oil spills in California. It showed many that despite their politics and backgrounds that they shared more in common than they previously realised. People were united in their fight against toxic waste, oil spills, pesticides, loss of wilderness and wildlife and no longer divided. Then you had the birth of the EPA and even more grassroots organisations. Quite an achievement. In 1990 200 million people rallied across the globe putting environmental issues on the world stage! We've not long come back from a country whose beauty we're still reeling from. Iceland is one of the most incredible places we've ever been and a country whose practical environmentalism globally is second to none. With large swathes of its countryside now declared UNESCO world heritage status (and rightly so) it is indescribably pristine. It's inspired us to do more eco-tourism in the future. It's also reminded us how important environmentalism is to us as people and photographers. It's making us look at new ways that we can be an environmentally responsible company. In our daily life we always try and get the bus everywhere or walk, even for jobs. We've got a couple of friends over from Canada at the minute in fact and so we've planned all our Edinburgh site-seeing on foot in honour of Earth Day! It's silly but it's small things, small concessions like this done by many people that preserve landscapes like Gulfoss for future generations. As you can see from the incredible beauty above and below - totes worth it!
Kirsty and David - Sneaky Peek! #edinburgh #wedding #photographer #royalmile #oldtown #playfair #lothianchambers #assemblyroxy #wedding #scotland #portrait #braw #wotsits #edinburghweddingphotographer #wedd
This is why you get married in Edinburgh folks! Even when the weather is a big bag of crushed watsits you can sneak under cover of Edinburgh's various vennels and closes to grab pictures like these! This is our first sneaky peak from the wedding of Kirsty and David that we shot yesterday. They had a very short but sweet ceremony over at the Lothian Chambers and then a right old knees up at The Assembly Roxy. Good times were had by all and there was even a bit of cheeky line dancing and some Rocky Horror Picture Show on the iPod playlist. Braw! We also had a firm wedding favourite with the Milestone wedding band. Fantastic day!
As we may have mentioned.....we're in Iceland!!! It's strange and wonderful and 5 days is not nearly enough to do everything you'll want to do - trust us. As we mentioned yesterday we drove the Golden Circle tour which is a few hundred kilometres long altogether taking in some of the most beautiful landscape I've ever seen. We also saw a Game of Thrones Tour which we're totally coming back to do! Saw some Geysers, Pingvellir National Park (which is a UNESCO world heritage site) and the list goes on..... Here's a wee snap or two from Gullfoss Waterfall which is beyond spectacular. As a photographer and traveller you get to see so many beautiful things through the lens that you do sometimes get spoiled with beautiful things to shoot. It's always a nice thing that you can still have your breath taken away :-) and you'll see the why and the how below :-) It's safe to say if someone would pay us to travel like this and take photos every day of the year we'd never stop!

As you may or may not be aware Katie and me are off on a wee adventure this week to Iceland! It's been amazing so far. Sorted and AirBnB in Reykjavik and we've been making day trips out to see some of the spectacular sights and scenes to be had across Iceland. We'll be sharing a few of our snaps with you over the coming days. We've had an insane time so far with the family. Here's a wee snap from our time on the Golden Circle tour route just a few hours from Reykjavik.

Another wee preview peek at the lovely engagement session of Kayleigh and Andrew at one of Scotlands most famous country houses! Lauriston Castle is beyond lovely and spring has definitely sprung. Kayleigh and Andrew took their darling baby girl Oats with them on the shoot. Oats got the most attentions from all the passers by :-)
Gothic Engagement - Nadia and Ian Sneak Peek #engagement #edinburgh #weddingphotographer #edinburghweddingphotographer #weddingphotographeredinburgh #oldtown #scottish #scotland #gothic #timburton #wefellinlove #sneakpeek
Nadia and Ian wanted something a wee bit different for their pre-wedding photos and they came to the right place! After mentioning she was a big fan of Tim Burton and all manner of gothic things we came up with the idea of taking a stroll in an iconic cemetery just up the road from us. Turned out to be worth braving the rain and the wind as we came away with some cracking photos. These guys didn't complain once about the biting wind and rain. Total troopers. Can you guess where this is?
Big blog coming soon!

Had the great pleasure of taking this couple of cuties to one of our favourite engagement locations in Edinburgh - Lauriston Castle. A firm favourite amongst many of the couples we shoot every year. These guys were almost upstaged I might add by their very cute baby girl - Oats! It was a great way for these guys to unwind on the weekend. We took the doggy out for wee walk, took some lovely pics and got to know our gorgeous couple a wee bit better before the big day :-) yaldi!!!

Caitlin and Ed's Vintage Arthurs Seat Engagement! Sneak Peek #edinburgh #arthursseat #engagement #photography #shoot #canada #ontario #scotland #romance
This gorgeous couple have a very special relationship with Arthurs Seat. Like many folk in this fair city of ours they can see it from their flat. So we had a wicked little shoot up there at Arthurs Seat with Caitlin and Ed. When they told us they were thinking about a vintage theme we got very excited indeed. Caitlin and Ed are high school sweethearts who met back home in Ontario, Canada. Caitlin got the chance to study here in Edinburgh and they soon made it their new home. Funnily enough Ed planned a super romantic proposal up Arthurs Seat. According to Caitlin it took some convincing as the weather was a little less than perfect. That said we had to contend with some pretty chilly cross-winds on their official engagement shoot when we took off up Edinburgh's own iconic volcano centre piece. But as you can see it was worthwhile! They both looked superb in their glad-rags.
